We’re the exclusive designers for REBELLION FESTIVALS -Â the worlds largest independent Punk and Alternative music festival. We produce over 70,000 flyers for them across a number of different designs each year. Plus all their display advertising too. Far too much to upload to our portfolio as we’re working on a Rebellion bit of art at least once a week! However, each year we also get to produce the festival programme. We’ve done this for the last 4 years now. Whilst we were finding our feet with the first couple, they have really taken a life of their own now with many people saying that this years 76 page issue was so good that it should be turned into a quarterly magazine. It’s a lot of work (we source all content and look after all the advertising too) but it’s worth it when you get comments like that!
The UK SUBS are now on X (hence XXIV) with their quest to have an album for every letter of the alphabet. We also did the artwork for W (Work In Progress) but this release gave us the most satisfaction. It’s always great when the client (the record label) like the work you do but when the band tell you it’s the best artwork they’ve had and that “you really ‘got it’ guys” then you know you must be doing something right.
When it comes from the legend that is Charlie Harper – well you know that there’s nothing that can quite beat that.
This is available on CD and we’ve also done 4 vinyl versions too.
Following on from the 14 TROJAN PRESENTS and the 3 TREASURE ISLE PRESENTS we now present one of the most famous Record labels – worldwide…. ISLAND PRESENTS. The first 4 releases are in the bag and looking good – “Ska”, “Rocksteady”, “Original Reggae” and “Roots”.
Occasionally you get to work on a project that is a labour of love. The HEAVY METAL KIDS album “Kitsch” was one of those. Not only is it an all time favourite of ours here at Chase The Ace but “Hey Little Girl” (which is a B Side and found on here as a bonus track) was actually the song that our director walked down the isle to!
We’ve been lucky to do the first two HMK albums too!
The TROJAN PRESENTS range has been expanded by another 3 classic titles – “Boss Reggae”, “Mod Ska” and “The Producers”. We’ve kept the overall design of the series but have been lucky to be allowed to be a bit more creative with the front covers.
Having done the artwork for Suzi Quatro’s new studio album “In The Spotlight” we were excited to work on the deluxe boxset edition which included a bonus CD “In The Dark” a VIP Laminate and all housed in a clamshell box.
We mainly do re-issue artwork. However every now and again we get a chance to do a new release and not be constrained by previous artists. With the UKs premier Street Punk band ARGY BARGY, we not only had free reign on the artwork but also the packaging. We decided to put this in a hard back DIGI BOOK. It’s looks amazing if we say so ourselves! So much so that we think we started a trend as CockSparrer, UK SUBS, Last Resort and a few others have all since followed this format.
August this year is the 50th Anniversary of Jamaican Independence. For Universal Music who are the rights holders to TROJAN RECORDS this is a very important time as their catalogue of classic Reggae, Ska and Rocksteady has been the soundtrack to this amazing island. We are honoured to have been chosen to put together such a flagship release.
The BOX consists of 5 CDs, 4 postcards, a sticker and a 48 page book charting the history of the genre and packed with loads of rare memorabilia. Reviews have already been very positive of the release and the packaging and it even featured in the Sunday Times!
New advert for monthly music industry magazine RECORD COLLECTOR is designed and uploaded for print. It features the last three DELUXE CLAMSHELL DOUBLE CD BOX SETS that we’ve designed for Captain Oi! Records. These are stunning releases and the Record Company really have gone the extra mile on them and even indulged us with our suggestion that the inner box be lined BLACK. These look really classy if we say so ourselves!
