Here’s a selection of our clients and a bit about them
Cherry Red were one of the main labels that spearheaded the “independent” music scene in the late seventies / early eighties. Their involvement with bands such as The Monochrome Set, Everything But The Girl, The Runaways and significantly the Dead Kennedys quickly extablished the label. In later years the Cherry Red group of companies have specialised in the re-issue market and have in excess of 40 labels under their roof. They specialise in a wide range of musical genres with labels dedicated to Punk, Psychobilly, Glam, Ska, Prog Rock, Folk, R&B and many other styles. The company are still signing artists and issuing new studio albums most recently 70s Rock Queen Suzi Quatro (which we are proud to have provided the artwork for). We have provided artwork for over 50 of their titles on a number of labels. We have also set up their ecommerce platform which included the design, coding and implementation of their website which they can now control content and products in house. They are avid supporters of Football (especially the lower divisions), currently sponsoring AFC Wimbledon. MD Adam Velasco is a Gooner but hey ho, we’ll still work with them! Up the Hornets!
At the time of writing Universal are the largest Record Company in the world and with their proposed acquisition of EMI’s recorded rights, this doesn’t look like changing anytime soon! Many famous labels fall under the Universal banner (Polydor, Decca, London, Island etc). In addition to many famous household names being signed to the label (Justin Bieber, The Black Eyed Peas, Mary J. Blige, Bon Jovi, Busta Rhymes,¬† Mariah Carey, Eminem,¬† 50 Cent, The Killers, Lady Gaga, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Bryan Adams,¬† Elton John,¬† Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, Ronan Keating, Rolling Stones, Take That,¬† U2, , Amy Winehouse etc etc) Universal are at the forefront of developing new artists. However, they also own a huge back catalogue and regularly re-issue classic albums. We’re excited to be involved with Universal and revamping their TROJAN RECORDS range (see below)
There are few Record labels that can truly be hailed as market leaders but Captain Oi are certainly one of them. Predominantly a Punk Re-Issue label, they have set the standard in care and attention to detail. No cheap looking rip off cash-ins here! A Captain Oi release is the mark of quality that people look for. Well compiled (relevant bonus tracks etc), good sleeve notes, booklets with info and artwork that have collectors dribbling with excitement (or heading straight to eBay as they realise they don’t own a Spanish 7″ after the cover is in the booklet!). With over 300 releases to their name from leading lights of the Punk Rock scene such as The Ramones, UK Subs, The Exploited, 999, Sham 69, Cock Sparrer, GBH, Toy Dolls, Eddie & The Hot Rods and many more. Recently they have launched a range of Deluxe Box sets which we have put together for them (The Ramones, The Skids and UK SUBS have had the Captains Box treatment so far). We have provided artwork for a number of their titles and also do all their magazine advertising etc. In addition we designed and manage their website for them, plus we oversee their digital catalogue. Oi Oi!!
Pressure Drop is the Ska and early Reggae imprint of Cherry Red Records. Initially set up to release the extensive and essential works of The Godfather of Ska, Laurel Aitken. To date 12 CDs have been issued and we’ve provided the artwork for all of them. The Pressure Drop label is a labour of love for us at Chase The Ace as we’re all fans of Ska & Reggae here (we helped conceive the label, the name and designed the logo so we’re a bit biased!).¬† In addition to Laurel Aitkens back catalogue being made available, Pressure Drop has also re-issued the first 4 studio albums by Ska legends BAD MANNERS. Not only was it a pleasure to do the artwork for these but selfishly, as fans, it was great to have them on CD at last!!! Pressure drop¬†is curated by Reggae & Ska expert and all round top bloke Laurence Cane-Honeysett.
A truly iconic label. Founded in 1968, Trojan Records is probably the most identifiable label specialising in Ska, Reggae, Dub and Rock Steady. CLICK HERE for a good read on the History of the label. We were approached in 2011 to pitch for the artwork on a new range “TROJAN PRESENTS” and having successfully secured the job we began the task of getting the artwork done for the 440 tracks of classic music over 11 double CDs. The response from collectors and the general public has been very positive and we look forward to working on future projects with Trojan.
The worlds biggest, best and 100% independent Alternative Music Festival. Held in Blackpool and established since 1996, Rebellion is THE gig to attend if you’re into Punk music. Featuring over 220 bands on 6 stages over 4 days it is an amazing weekend. In addition to the big bands there are acoustic acts, art exhibitions, a Literary stage and an indoor market selling CDs, vinyl, T-shirts and merch of all descriptions. Preparing for the event is a year long task and we provide Rebellion with all their marketing (flyers, adverts, posters etc). We also designed and maintain their website and help out with the ‘back end’ of the business with our Project Management team.
